Overview:
In this method, the applicant is going to get the license or become the sales representative of a famous brand (franchising) and do work in the form of a real business; be it a café, restaurant, florist, IT company, laundry, workshop, beauty salon, car wash, etc. Inside Oman. If the applicant can provide proof of all legal details about his/her business, he/she can then file an application in the immigration police office for the Omani residence permit for him/herself and his/her family and if his/her application is accepted by the immigration police office, he/she is free to live in this beautiful, spectacular country until the validity period of his/her residency card. After the expiration date, the residency card will be extended if the applicant applies for its extension.
One of the most apparent characteristics of this method is that the applicant need not take long before setting up his business. By getting licenses or becoming the sales representative (franchising) of a well-known brand, the applicants can own a branch of a famous brand and start managing and running their business with less concern. For example, imagine you’re intending to set up a coffee-shop business from scratch. You will have to rent a shop first, hire a bookkeeper, get required food and beverages licenses, build up a website and promote it on social media, advertise for your coffee-shop, attract customers, set a menu, make contracts with distribution companies, design and execute the interior and exterior design of your coffee-shop, interview, hire and educate staff and the list goes on. But when you’re attempting to become a sales representative of a known brand (franchising), you will only have to receive your documents and keys, get the necessary education, and start your work up straight!

Some important points you might not have known:
- A company’s activities cannot be consisted of only 20 issued invoices for rent, bills, etc. and a cost of 10,000 euros in a period of six months! This is pure costing. Your company must have earnings as well as costings which is 100% real and related to the activities of your company and 80% related to Oman, during this six months.
- Some people set up a business in Oman and sell products bought from a chinese or Japanese company, through their business to turkey, emirates, Armenia and Italy! This kind of activity has no other meaning than bypassing sanctions and doing illegal activities in front of the Omani or any other government. Your company’s activity must be mostly related to Oman. If you’re planning to sell a chinses product to UAE, you must set up a business in china or the UAE. You should not use Oman as mean to overcome your limitations. If you do not comply with this, your residence permit application will certainly be rejected.
- The validity period of your residency card is directly related to the Omani immigration police office’s opinion. They might reject some requests entirely or issue residency cards with a validity period of one, two or three years for some people.
- With the foundation of an inactive company, it will be inevitable for your residency request or the extension of your card to be rejected.
- The valuation criterion for the Omani rial, is its rate in the open market.
- This method does not apply to children over the age of 18 years so if you have any child older than eighteen, you will have to introduce her/him as a partner of your business.
- You are not obligated to live in a certain Omani city. You are free to choose if you want to live in Muscat or elsewhere in Oman.
- It’s important to remember that you, yourself, are entering an agreement as the buying party against the business owner, and the Whitebird group cannot guarantee or manage the contract made between you and the business owner.
- In case of any upcoming problems between you and the business owner, be it legal or criminal, you have to sue him/her yourself and the Whitebird Group takes no responsibilities in that regard.
